What is shishi-odoshi?
A pivoted hollow bamboo tube catches spilling water from a bamboo pipe. When hollow bamboo is filled with the water, the bamboo tilts down and the water spills out. Then, bamboo hit the stone and make sound. The noise scare animals. So, this is translated as dear scarer, I think.
But nowadays, this is something to enjoy the sound.
